How to Generate a Vultr API Key and connect with CloudMoo

This guide will walk you through the steps to generate an API key in your Vultr account. This API key is required to connect your Vultr account with CloudMoo.

Prerequisites

  • An active Vultr account

  • Access to Vultr's control panel

Steps to Generate API Key

  1. Log into Vultr

  2. Access API Settings

    • Click on your account name in the top-right corner

    • Select "API" from the dropdown menu

    • You'll be taken to the API settings page

  3. Generate New API Key

    • Click on the "Enable API" button if you haven't already enabled API access

    • Click on the "Generate API Key" button

    • Enter a description for your API key (e.g., "CloudMoo Monitor")

    • Under Access Control allow Any IPv4 and Any IPv6

  4. Copy and Save Your API Key

    • Your new API key will be displayed

    • ⚠️ IMPORTANT: Copy the key immediately and store it securely. You won't be able to see the full key again after leaving the page.

    • The API key will look something like this: VULTR-XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Next Steps

After generating your API key:

  1. Return to CloudMoo

  2. Go to the Vultr connection page

  3. Paste your API key in the designated field

  4. Complete the connection process

Rate Limits

Be aware that Vultr implements rate limiting on API requests:

  • Standard accounts: 30 requests per second

  • Rate limit information is included in API responses

  • CloudMoo is designed to work within these limits
